Situated at the northern tip of the South Island, Nelson is a lively and vibrant town with a population of approximately 46,000. Renowned both locally and internationally for its exceptional grape growing conditions, Nelson, and the wider Marlborough region receives on average over 2000 sunshine hours a year. This makes Nelson one of the most verdant and bountiful areas of New Zealand.

This is evident as you drive towards the city, with large swathes of land and entire hillsides devoted to the growing of wine grapes, while orchards decorate the fields as you head west towards Golden Bay.
Golden Bay is approximately 2 hours from Nelson and the beauty of the bay will stun anyone. Just over the hill, at the south-eastern end of Golden Bay, lies Takaka, a small town that serves as the local centre for the Bay. In Takaka you can find everything you might need for a day outdoors, with dozens of beaches within easy distance of the town.

There is also several unique natural attractions nearby, such as the Te Waikoropupū Springs, the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand and home to some of the clearest water in the world.
